Soft brome (Bromus hordeaceus)
Formerly known as goose grass (Bromus mollis). Annual grass weed of average feed quality – abundant in dry areas
Identification
Leaves are hairy and medium green when young but greyish green when older. Seedlings have erect twisted leaves.
Characteristics
Is more abundant in drier regions because it germinates in autumn and fills pasture gaps caused by drought. Declines when a dense pasture sward is maintained.
